The central themes in “We’re Not Jews” are immigration and biracial families.
“We’re Not Jews” is a British short story written by Hanif Kureishi. It first appeared in the London Review of Books. In this essay I’m going to analyse the story.
The main focus in the analysis will be on Azhar’s mother, his father, and the situation Azhar is put in. I will describe the Billy’s, the setting and the themes of the story. Finally, I will comment on the ending, as well as the title “We’re Not Jews”.
